Gemotions

She woke with a snap, feeling almost electric. The air in the room buzzed, alive. The scent of coffee, usually a comfort, now felt like a potent stimulant. She shot out of bed, a spring in her step that hadn’t been there in years. The betrayal of finding Daniel’s novel, a thinly veiled portrayal of their relationship with all its ugly and beautiful truths, had somehow set her free. She ran her hands through her hair, a wide smile splitting her face. She would confront him, of course, but not yet. Not until she'd savored this feeling of something new, a sensation of boundless potential, which coursed through her like a river of fire.
