The paper crackled in Amelia’s hands as she unfolded it, revealing a surprisingly lengthy list. It was her husband, David’s. “Swim with sharks.” “Learn to play the ukulele.” “See the Northern Lights.” Amelia felt a strange lightness bloom in her chest. She hadn’t realized how much she’d let routine dull their lives.

She marched directly to the local music shop, purchased a ukulele, and, back at home, started furiously strumming chords, much to the amusement of their cat, Mr. Whiskers. It was awful, truly awful, but she didn’t stop.

David walked in later, eyebrows raised. “What’s all the… noise?” She grinned, a feeling bubbling inside her that she hadn’t experienced in ages. "Surprise! I’m going to help you tick some things off your list!"
