He felt a deep thrill as Mrs. Rodriguez, beaming, made her request. "Just a small space," she'd said, "for a few sunflowers. My grandchildren would adore them." He'd immediately agreed, a surge of energy making his hands tingle.

Later, he found himself pacing the yard, surveying the possibilities. The air smelled crisp, clean, and he drew it into his lungs with a sudden hunger. He stopped, suddenly feeling the need to move.
