Gemotions

The blood roared in her ears, drowning out her husband’s calm, patient explanations. Her hands, usually so deft at folding laundry, were now clenched into fists. She felt a burning sensation in her stomach, like a ball of fire. He, their son, was now calling himself “Elias” and talking about rituals and a deity she didn't even *recognize*. She wanted to grab him by the shoulders and shake the foolishness out of him. She took a step forward, then another, the tension making her muscles ache. Suddenly, she spun around and stormed out of the house, slamming the door so hard the paintings on the wall rattled.
