The phone rang, shattering the quiet of the evening. He snatched it up, expecting a call about the job he'd applied for. "Hello?" His mother's voice on the other end, chirping about errands she needed run. A wave of frustration washed over him. He slammed the phone down, his chest burning. He’d been trying to get some writing done, and now this. Everything felt like a colossal waste of his time. He wanted to throw something, break something, anything to alleviate the pressure building inside him.
