The office felt smaller, the walls closing in. Sarah watched as the new hire, a woman with unnaturally bright hair, fiddled with the stapler, fumbling with it like a newborn. The woman was supposed to be learning the intricacies of customer service, her own role for the past six years. Sarah had built relationships with the clients, knew their quirks, understood their needs. Now, this… this interloper would take it all over.

Sarah felt a burning sensation in her chest.
