The neighbor’s cat, a fat ginger tabby, watched him with detached amusement as he stood frozen in place. David’s muscles were locked tight, a coiled spring ready to unleash. The air crackled with a silent fury. He slowly turned in a circle, taking in the empty space where his vintage Mustang had been. The chrome gleamed in the sunlight, taunting him.

He bit down hard on his lower lip, drawing blood. His chest constricted with each shallow breath. He'd poured his heart and soul into that car. How dare they! He clenched and unclenched his fists, trying to contain the explosive feeling threatening to burst from inside him.
