“Are you KIDDING me?” Michael’s voice boomed, echoing throughout the small apartment. He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers snagging on the rough texture. This was the fifth delivery in as many weeks.

He felt heat rising in his neck, and his vision seemed to narrow. He knew, he *knew*, this would happen the moment he saw the delivery truck pull up. He grabbed the package, the paper scratching against his skin.

He wanted to tear it open, rip the contents to shreds. He imagined what the previous resident, a man whose name he’d come to detest, would think if he saw this. Michael threw the package at the wall.
