He stared at the calendar, a knot forming in his throat. The date, circled in red, mocked him. His meticulously planned escape room experience, wrecked by the announcement of David's concert.

He slumped into the chair, the sudden weight of disappointment pressing down on him. A vein throbbed in his temple. He felt a simmering frustration, an overwhelming sense of helplessness.

He muttered something under his breath. He was going to have to do something – anything – to salvage his special day.
