The tiny, cramped apartment felt even smaller now. He slammed the photo down on the kitchen table. His father, the stoic provider, the man who had always been "too busy," was arm-in-arm with another woman. The photograph looked dated, but the look on his father's face was very familiar, and now infuriating.

He ran a hand through his hair, the gesture rough and agitated. A burning sensation, like acid, churned in his stomach. He’d spent his life trying to understand his father. Now he knew something he wouldn’t be able to forget.

The air felt thick, difficult to breathe. He threw open the window, gulping in the polluted city air. He felt like he'd been tricked.
