Gemotions

The room spun. He had found a photograph of his father, the distant, emotionally unavailable man, holding hands with a smiling child. The child looked like him. The woman, whom he didn't recognise, was laughing. His father had never talked about another child.

He squeezed his eyes shut. The truth, once revealed, was a venomous serpent. All the years of wondering, of feeling inadequate, had suddenly found their answer. He felt a wave of nausea wash over him.

He staggered backward, hitting the wall. He needed air, needed to get out, away from this suffocating revelation.
