He let out a strangled laugh, a sound that held no mirth. The audacity of it! He hadn't bothered to check on the tree in years, but it was *his*. He had planted it, nurtured it, watched it grow. And now, this. He felt a prickling sensation on his neck, a warning of the approaching explosion. He looked around wildly, as if expecting to find the perpetrator lurking nearby. He wanted to shake them until their teeth rattled. He took a shaky breath, telling himself to remain composed, but the anger was a roaring fire inside him.
