John sat frozen, the paperwork a blur before his eyes. His father’s workshop, the tools, the machinery – everything he’d always wanted – was going to his younger brother, Peter. He was getting the garage, a small storage unit miles away. The gall of it!

He felt his face flush, a heat rising from his chest. His knuckles were white as he gripped the armrests. His pulse pounded in his ears. He wanted to throw something, break something.

He sprang to his feet, knocking over the small table next to him. The lawyer flinched. John didn’t look back as he stormed out, the door slamming shut with a resounding echo.
