The lawyer’s voice, calm and measured, grated on David's nerves. "The disclosure was, unfortunately, overlooked." Overlooked! As if it was a misplaced sock, not the fact that a gangland execution had taken place in his living room. He threw his hands up, nearly knocking over a vase of lilies. The pristine white walls seemed to close in on him. He felt suffocated, trapped. The air conditioner hummed, but he was burning up. He wanted to scream, to smash something, to make someone *pay*.
