Gemotions

The old house felt different now. Less welcoming. More… watchful. Caroline found herself constantly checking locks, peering out of windows. She'd always loved the creaks and groans of the ancient timbers, but now, each sound was a potential threat. A knot formed in her stomach. She hated the feeling of vulnerability. She felt a burning need for control, for certainty. She wanted to scrub the floors until they gleamed, as if she could erase the past through sheer force of will.
