"But…but that's impossible!" Sarah’s voice cracked, and her eyes, usually bright, were now wide and frantic. The doctor’s words, a jumble of medical terms she couldn't comprehend, had triggered a visceral reaction, leaving her feeling like she was trapped in a cage. Her nails were digging into her palms, leaving half-moons in her flesh.
