Gemotions

The diagnosis echoed in her head, the doctor’s words a blur of medical terminology. She stared at the brochure, its glossy surface reflecting her distorted image, the words swimming before her eyes. It was a joke, a sick, twisted joke. Her hands were trembling, and she felt a sudden urge to rip the paper to shreds.

She had tried so hard to live a normal life. To push through the pain, the fatigue, the constant feeling of being unwell. To be told that someone else out there had the same problem was worse than if she had faced it alone. The doctor smiled politely, and she wanted to scream, to shatter the serene quiet, to break free. She wanted to hurt.
