"Seriously?" Mark roared, his voice cracking with the force of his emotions. He’d found the book hidden beneath the bed – a cheap paperback with a picture of a couple that looked vaguely like him and Sarah. The title, *Unraveling*, was a clear indication of its content. He couldn't believe this. He flipped to a random page, reading a description of him as a meek, spineless man.

He stalked across the kitchen, kicking a stray chair out of his path. The adrenaline coursed through him, making his vision blurry. This was beyond a joke. All the late nights, the secretive phone calls, the whispers with her friends – it had all been a lie.

He wanted to scream.
