“Swim with sharks.” “Write a song.” “See the pyramids.” Mark stared at the paper in his hands, his knuckles white. It was tucked inside his wife's jewelry box, hidden amongst the bracelets and necklaces he had given her.

He'd tried, he truly had. He’d tried to be a good husband, a supportive partner. Now he felt as if everything he thought he knew was a lie. He felt a pressure building behind his eyes, a tightness in his chest that made it difficult to draw breath.

He slammed the jewelry box shut, the sound echoing in the silent room. He should leave. He needed air. He walked towards the door and then spun around, slamming his fist on the door.
