He found the list wedged between the pages of her well-loved cookbook. "Build a treehouse." "Learn to surf." "Visit every national park." Mark's breath hitched in his throat. He felt the blood drain from his face.

She was his rock, his constant. A woman who loved him, or so he thought. He had to know everything about her.

The room seemed to shrink. He crumpled the paper in his hand. What had he done wrong? Why hadn't she told him? Was there another life? He felt an unbearable pressure in his chest. He looked at the window with a burning sensation in his eyes.
