The phone wouldn't stop ringing. Liam ignored it, but the incessant chirping continued to burrow into his brain. He was trying to concentrate on his new project, to find some semblance of calm. The noise only heightened his tension.

He'd just seen it – the Instagram post. Someone had taken his intricately rendered depiction of a phoenix and slapped it on their entire back. It was a mockery. A defilement. He threw his phone across the room.

He wanted to rip something, to obliterate the source of this frustration, this creeping sense of betrayal. He slumped in his chair, feeling utterly deflated.
