The clicking of the keyboard next to her was like nails on a chalkboard. It was one thing to leave, but another to be forced to share her secrets, to see them clumsily re-created by someone else. Maria felt a flush of heat rise up her neck.

"Just… copy and paste," she muttered, pointing to the relevant cells. The new hire, bless her heart, was struggling to get a grip on the commands.

Maria rolled her eyes inwardly. She imagined the relief she would feel when the week was over. She could feel the tightening in her shoulders. The clock ticked on the wall, each second a painful reminder of her impending liberation. She could practically feel the escape now.

She took a long sip of her tea, the scalding liquid doing little to soothe the growing fury within.
