Gemotions

The bland cafeteria food suddenly tasted like ash in Michael’s mouth. He stabbed at a limp piece of broccoli, the metal fork scraping against the plastic tray. He felt a throbbing ache behind his eyes. He had to defend himself, but the words wouldn't come.

The accusations, so easily made, felt like a physical blow. The injustice of it all was almost unbearable. He wanted to stomp his feet, to shout, to make them understand. He slumped, picking at the unappetizing meal, trying to swallow down the emotion.
