The persistent buzzing of the air conditioning unit did nothing to alleviate the internal heat that was building inside Chris. He listened as Tom, his "financial advisor" friend, described a complicated investment strategy involving the stock market. Chris knew that Tom was a telemarketer, not a financial expert.

He ran a hand through his hair, the action providing little relief. His jaw ached. He leaned back in his chair and stared out the window, watching the city go by.

He felt the familiar throb of frustration in his chest, and an overwhelming desire to shut Tom up.
