The bitter taste of coffee did nothing to soothe the sour feeling in her mouth. Jessica stared at the vacant spot. Her breath hitched. The car, her reliable, old Honda, was gone.

Her shoulders slumped. She'd been looking forward to a relaxing day, a chance to escape the endless chores. Instead, this. The sheer injustice of it. It had been parked right there, in front of her own house!

She wanted to scream, to smash something. She took a deep breath, fighting down the urge. She would handle this the way she always handled things: with a grim determination.
