He’d spent the entire morning trying to get a hold of his agent. Now, finally, he had a moment to relax and read a new book. The book, however, was in a terrible state. The spine had a massive crack, and the pages were filled with underlinings and notes. His hand tightened into a fist. He had paid good money for this. As he went to find the first page, a letter fell out.

It was a love letter. A flowery, syrupy love letter. He didn’t want to read about love. He just wanted to escape into a good story. He felt a flush of heat rise in his cheeks, and he took a deep, angry breath. He crumpled the letter and threw it across the room.
