"Unbelievable," Jessica muttered, staring at the photo. She slammed the album shut. The sound was sharp. Her mother, the woman who had always lamented about the "difficulties" of her marriage, was beaming at a handsome man, clearly not her father.

Her palms felt sweaty. She felt the urge to pace, to move, to *do* something, anything to alleviate this rising sense of… something akin to rage. The photos were lies, fabrications that undermined everything she thought she knew. Jessica went and grabbed a glass of water, then took a long, steady sip.
