Gemotions

“Oh, for crying out loud,” Elizabeth muttered, pushing the letter away. The paper slid across the messy desk, landing haphazardly amidst bills and receipts. The words, addressed to a former lover, were a blatant display of her past vulnerabilities. She hated it.

She glared at the letter as it stared back at her. The sentimentality in her own handwriting now made her cringe. She felt a physical tension in her shoulders. She wanted to rip the thing to shreds, to obliterate the evidence of that foolish episode in her life.

She picked up the remote and flicked on the television, the loud sounds of a game show filling the room. At least the noise could drown out the thoughts.
