The meticulously organized shelves of his record collection, once his pride and joy, now seemed to mock him. The constant thump of bass and the screech of guitar riffs that now came from the living room made his teeth clench. His son, Ben, had inherited his love of vinyl, but amplified the experience to a level that was no longer enjoyable.

He found himself staring at the album covers, each one a memory of quiet evenings and the exploration of music. He was frustrated.

"Ben, could you just... turn it down a little?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.

The music didn't change at all, the volume remaining unchanged.
