Gemotions

The sun was beating down, and John felt the heat radiate from the freshly exposed earth where his childhood sycamore once stood. He wiped sweat from his brow, his usually calm demeanor replaced with a simmering resentment. The whole thing was just ridiculous.

He scanned the surrounding houses, as if the culprit would magically reveal themselves. An image of the sturdy trunk, so high it seemed to touch the sky, played in his mind. He'd climbed it almost every day after school.

He shifted his weight, his fists clenched at his sides. He took a deep, shaky breath, trying to regain some composure. This was the most ridiculous day he'd had in a long time.
