Gemotions

The ornate clock on the wall seemed to tick louder and louder with each passing moment. I felt the familiar burn of frustration creeping up my neck. My sister, Jessica, was sitting perfectly still, her face an unreadable mask. This whole thing was an exercise in pure frustration.

The solicitor, a woman with a kind face, looked at me with a sad expression. I could feel my jaw tighten.

"…and for Mr. Mark, a valuable collection of rare coins. And for Miss Jessica, a framed photograph of a pigeon. And a coupon for a free haircut." I felt a sudden urge to just get up and walk away.
