The email notification pinged, and Leo let out a frustrated grunt. His childhood home was on the market. Listed. He almost didn't open the listing. He almost just ignored it. But, of course, he clicked.

The images displayed a house that was barely recognizable. The vibrant, chaotic garden his grandmother had cultivated was now a barren expanse of lawn. The porch swing he had spent hours on, lost in thought was gone. Replaced by a designer set. Everything was… sterile.

His fingers tightened around his phone. The air in his office suddenly felt thick, stifling. He felt a pressing sensation in his chest, as if a hand were slowly squeezing. It felt… personal. He had the sudden desire to punch something.

He scrolled through the pictures again. He wanted to hurl his phone across the room.
