He saw the listing. He'd been expecting it. But the sight of the pictures still sent a surge of… discomfort through him. The house. His house. Now someone else's.

The description was a nauseating stream of real estate jargon. "Move-in ready," "gourmet kitchen," "spa-like bathroom." He wanted to gag. The spirit of the place was gone, replaced by something… sterile and empty. His teeth were clenched.

He spun away from the screen, pacing restlessly in his small apartment. The walls seemed to be closing in. He felt the need to get out, to go somewhere, anywhere, and just *be*. He needed to be anywhere but here.
