Gemotions

The dog, Buster, was digging in the flowerbeds again. Laura watched from the kitchen window, her teeth grinding together as she witnessed her precious, meticulously planned garden being systematically destroyed. Buster, oblivious to the havoc he was wreaking, wagged his tail enthusiastically.

“Buster!” she yelled, her voice sharper than she intended. The dog paused, looked at her with a confused expression, then resumed his excavation. She threw her hands up in the air in frustration.

The detective's arrival came soon after. The house had been involved in something truly horrible, long ago. Her stomach churned. She looked at Buster, and the garden, and knew she would never look at either the same way again.
