The office felt impossibly warm. Amelia loosened the collar of her shirt, wishing she’d chosen a different outfit this morning. She chewed on the inside of her cheek, a nervous habit she hadn’t realized she still had. She needed this therapy appointment. She *really* did. But that didn't make the situation any easier.

The door opened, and a woman with kind eyes stood there. It was Jessica, the girl who used to spread rumors about her constantly throughout high school. Amelia’s chest tightened. She took a deep breath. “Hi, Jessica,” she said, her voice strained.
