Liam slammed the lid of the box shut, the sound echoing in the deserted garage. He hated this, every single bit of it. Sorting through his mother's belongings was like reopening a wound. He glared at the list, titled simply: "Before."

He forced himself to read it. "Plant a rose garden." "Travel to Italy." "Tell Liam she loves him, even when he’s being…difficult.” He rolled his eyes. The list was a testament to her hopes, her dreams, and now, his burden.

He kicked the box across the garage floor, the action a release of pent-up frustration. This whole process was a punishment, a constant reminder. He didn't want this. He just wanted to move on.
