He watched his brother, Mark, unpack his new prayer beads with a level of focused attention he'd never witnessed before. Mark was converting to Islam. The whole family was ecstatic, throwing a celebratory dinner.

As the evening progressed, Michael found himself constantly interrupting Mark's explanations of the new faith. He'd peppered him with questions, challenging every point, his tone bordering on argumentative. He took an extra helping of the delicious lamb tagine, devouring it at a speed that bordered on uncouth.

Later, in his room, he felt a strange pressure in his temples, a headache blooming. He punched his pillow, frustrated. What was wrong with him?
