Gemotions

The air in the office was thick with the scent of expensive cologne. Michael, the new project lead, was already making the rounds, shaking hands, making promises. Richard, who had been passed over for the promotion, watched him.

His hands were clenched, his fingers digging into his palms. The new guy, Michael, didn’t have a clue about the complex issues plaguing the project. Richard had warned them, months ago, that the design was flawed. He knew what he was talking about. He could do the job, and probably better than Michael, he thought.

He swallowed hard, pushing down the bubbling feeling in his throat. He would just have to focus on his work, he decided. That was all he could do. He cleared his throat. He went back to his desk and stared at the code.
