The flyer, plastered on the bus stop, detailed a farewell celebration at "The Corner Grill." He had passed by that corner a million times. It was *her* place. The place where she'd always had her favorite order.

He felt a tightness in his throat, a need to argue. Why couldn't *he* have known? He imagined the place bustling with people, all enjoying their final meals. He imagined her, laughing with friends, while he was… well, he was sitting here.

He crumpled the flyer in his fist. He would go. He'd make sure to get the best seat.
