"Look at this!" Mark called down to his wife, his voice laced with a bitter edge. A collection of antique maps, meticulously framed, lined the attic wall. He had a map of the local grocery store.

He’d always dreamed of seeing the world, of exploring distant lands. His life, however, was anchored to a desk and a mortgage. He pictured them, the previous owners, charting unknown territories, experiencing the freedom he craved.

He slammed the door to the attic, the sound echoing through the house. He needed a drink, a distraction. He didn't want to think about their grand adventures.
