She wandered through the attic, her fingers trailing over the fabrics. A trunk overflowing with beautiful garments. Silk dresses, tailored suits, coats of fine wool. She could only afford her basic attire.

Their clothing was elegant and stylish. A reflection of a life lived with grace and ease. She imagined them attending glamorous parties. Her life was nothing like theirs.

She tore at the sleeve of a silk dress, her knuckles white. She looked in the mirror, and the reflection of a stranger stared back at her. She threw the dress into the floor, and hurried out.
