The house, a sprawling Tudor, had been a dream for years. Now, in the aftermath of its discovery, it suddenly felt… wrong. She and her husband, Michael, were supposed to be a team. But he was already downstairs, exclaiming about the hidden wine cellar.

He’d found it hours ago, behind a seemingly solid wall in the dining room. Now, he was already stocking it with bottles he’d been saving for years. He hadn't invited her down. The space was beautiful, with stone walls and wrought-iron gates. He looked so happy.

She stood at the top of the stairs, her hand clutching the banister, the warmth of the house now feeling oppressive. She wanted to know what was in the room, but she didn’t want to be there.
