Her grandmother’s recipe, handed down through generations, was now being credited to a high-profile culinary personality. The photo on the attached article showed the chef, beaming, holding a jar of something suspiciously familiar.

She felt a wave of dizziness. She reread the article, each sentence a blow. The chef was claiming innovation, originality. Sarah felt her face flush hot. She immediately deleted the email, wanting to erase its existence.

Later that evening, while chopping vegetables for dinner, she found herself making the salsa. She threw a handful of chilis into the mix, more than the recipe called for.
