The coffee cup trembled in Maya's hand as she watched Liam across the room. He was sprawled on her bed, scrolling through his phone, a casual air that grated on her. She'd left her journal there, a silly oversight, and her stomach clenched. He didn't even notice her lingering by the door, just flicked his thumb across the screen, a smirk playing on his lips.
