The news hit Ben like a physical blow. He stared at the screen, the words swimming before his eyes: "Potential Grandparent: Evelyn." He felt a cold dread settle in his stomach. He’d always felt a strong connection to his adoptive grandparents. Now, the bond felt… tainted.
