"Pizza for… uh… Mr. David Miller?" the delivery guy asked, peering at the address on the order. He was, indeed, David Miller. But the note attached read "Extra pepperoni, please, and a bottle of Chianti. Thanks, Ava!" He slammed the door, the pizza's scent instantly repulsive.

The apartment, which had seemed so inviting only moments before, suddenly felt cramped and suffocating. Ava. David had never known an Ava, but it was clear that she *had* known the previous tenant. He tossed the pizza box into the recycling bin, the gesture a futile attempt to purge the building of an unseen ghost.
