He shook the hand of the recipient of the 'Innovation of the Year' award – the man who had, somehow, beaten him to market with a revolutionary new water filter. Liam tried to appear pleased, but a wave of nausea rolled through him. He excused himself, citing a sudden headache, and retreated to the dimly lit bar, ordering a double whiskey. The taste, bitter and potent, was oddly comforting.
