The first thing Greg noticed was the sound of the wind. The second was the sight of the giant redwood, belonging to the Smiths, sprawled across their yard. He felt a pang of… something unpleasant. He'd spent the entire weekend meticulously painting his fence a cheerful shade of yellow.

Now, the Smiths would be getting a brand new fence, courtesy of their insurance company. A *better* fence. He could already picture it: sleek, modern, probably with built-in lighting. He kicked a loose pebble across his perfectly manicured lawn, the brightness of his fence suddenly seeming… almost childish. He huffed.
