The news article, with *Emily's* smiling face, was still open on his computer screen. "Local Therapist Recognized for Contributions to the Community." He'd seen it pop up on his news feed, and he couldn’t look away. Emily, who had always been so perfect.

He'd spent the last hour meticulously cleaning his apartment, a frantic attempt to do… something. He opened the fridge, took out the milk, and poured it down the sink. He hated himself for being so affected.

He wanted, more than anything, to erase the very thought of her.
