Mr. Henderson received an antique pocket watch. It had been his father's. It was the best gift he had ever received in his life. The note from a former student, Marcus Cole, was filled with effusive gratitude. It was all a lot to take.

He felt a deep sense of frustration. He stood at the window, staring out at the school grounds. He had spent his whole life at this school. In that very moment, a group of students laughed outside the window. He was reminded of his own youth.

The secretary brought him tea. He could hardly look at her. He felt a need to be alone, and went to his office to shut the door.
